2015 is the 30th Anniversary of the Koestler Parapsychology Unit. The Unit began in 1985 when Robert Morris was appointed as the first Koestler Professor at Edinburgh University’s Psychology Department. But parapsychology has been part of the psychology department’s activities since 1962, when John Beloff became a lecturer there. Indeed, Beloff played an important role in the appointment of Bob Morris, an academic from the US who was respected both by proponents and critics of parapsychology for his balanced approach to this controversial topic.
Sid Rodrigues has posted this lovely video from 1975 of John Beloff, Anthony Flew, and Barbara Smoker, at the South Place Ethical Society – now Conway Hall.
